Participants will learn tangible solutions for helping clients improve their coping abilities, and will gain insights into how to apply these practical strategies, both within the context of a comprehensive treatment model, and independent of the model. The Mel & Phyllis Zachter OHEL Institute for Training is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Social Work as an Approved Provider of Continuing Education for Licensed Social Workers (#SW-0016), and by the NYSED’s State Board for Mental Health Practitioners as an Approved Provider of Continuing Education for Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (#MFT-0002) and Licensed Mental Health Counselors (#MHC-0002).The presentation will be enhanced by experiential sampling of DBT techniques, Question and Answer discussion, case examples and video recordings illustrating the use of DBT skills in the therapy context. If cancellation is received at least 5 business days prior to training date, your full registration fee can be applied to a future Institute training.It is provided by Cambridge English Language Assessment through authorised Cambridge English Teaching Qualification centres and can be taken either full-time or part-time.

The qualification was amended in response to perceived needs, leading to the launch in September 1988 of the CTEFLA (the Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language to Adults).

CELTA applicants are required to have English language skills equivalent to at least level C1 of the CEFR – a standard of English which enables the teaching and understanding of language issues at a range of levels, from beginner to upper-intermediate students.

CELTA applicants should be over the age of 18 and ideally have a standard of education equivalent to that required for entry into higher education (e.g. Applicants without formal qualifications may be accepted if they can demonstrate that they are likely to complete the course successfully. The task will focus on language awareness and consideration of issues related to teaching English.

If the written task demonstrates an appropriate level of English and the potential to develop the skills needed to pass the course, the applicant will be invited to an interview.

The nature of the interview varies from centre to centre.
